Chelsea set to offload five stars in January transfer window following one-in, one-out policy

Chelsea are reportedly set to offload five players in the January transfer window as Mauricio Pochettino is handed a one-in, one-out policy.

Pochettino is still struggling to get his star-studded team into winning ways, and are currently languishing tenth, in the Premier League.

He is now keen on reinforcing the squad after a challenging start to the season, by making new signings in the January transfer window.

However, the club aims to avoid a bloated squad, as was the case during Graham Potter’s era.

This, according to reports, have been made known to Pochettino, that new signings will only happen if some existing players are shown the exit door.

The Telegraph reports that five players are uncertain about their futures due to limited playing time this season.

Defender Trevoh Chalobah who is dealing with injury problems, is yet to make an appearance, and Malang Sarr, another centre-back, is expected to seek a new club come January.

Ian Maatsen, despite being considered a valuable player by Pochettino, is leaning towards an exit as his contract expires in 2025, and he has no wish to extend it.

The attacking front might also witness changes, especially with Pochettino eyeing a new No. 9.

Armando Broja faces uncertainty as competition grows between him and Nicolas Jackson.

Noni Madueke, despite joining Chelsea earlier in the year, could be on the move also, after failing to impress Pochettino and finding himself lower in the squad’s ranks.
