EPL: Richarlison to seek help of psychologist to break goal drought

Brazil and Tottenham star, Richarlison has revealed that he will seek the help of a psychologist to end his goal drought.

The Tottenham star endured a difficult first season at the club after scoring just three times last term after his £60 million move from Everton.

While this season has seen the Brazilian looking much more like his usual self, the 26-year-old has looked short of form, confidence, and fitness over the last 12 months, leading to criticism from supporters who demanded more after such a big-money move.

He was seen upset after being substituted in Brazil’s match against Bolivia last week after another match without a goal, despite Brazil being 4-0 up at the time. He also had a goal overturned for offside in his nation’s win against Peru, although he did eventually get on the scoresheet in the 4-0 win in injury time.

Explaining why he would be needing the help of a psychologist, 26-year-old Richarlison told Brazilian newspaper Globo;

“I went through a turbulent time in the last five months off the field. Now things are right at home. People who only had an eye on my money walked away from me. Now things will start to flow, I’m sure I’ll get a good run at Tottenham and make things happen again. That sad moment wasn’t even because I played poorly [against Bolivia], in my opinion, I didn’t play a bad game in Belem, it was more of an outburst about the things that were happening off the field, which got out of control not on my part, but on the part of people who were close to me.

“I’m going to go back to England, to seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to work on my mind. That’s it, come back stronger. I believe I will be in the next squad, I will work for that. It’s about getting a good streak at Tottenham, this week I’m going to sit down and talk to them, I need a good streak, get the rhythm of the game.”
