Mikel Arteta vows to fight controversial VAR decision after Arsenal defeat to Newcastle

Mikel Arteta has vowed that Arsenal will fight VAR ruling in Newcastle clash that saw his men face first defeat this season.

The game was marred by a contentious VAR decision that left Arteta furious.

The goal from Anthony Gordon was the only one of the match, but it came after a VAR check that lasted for more than four minutes.

The check was carried out to decide if there was an offside or foul in the build-up, as well as determining if the ball had gone out of play.

After the game, Arteta expressed his frustration with the decisions against his team in an interview with Sky Sports, calling the VAR decisions “embarrassing” and “a disgrace.”

He promised to pursue the matter, saying, “We will be taking it for many months. There is so much at stake, and we put in so many hours.”

Although Arsenal registered only one shot on target in the intense fixture, Arteta believed his team did enough to win the game.

“If there was a team looking to win the game today, it was Arsenal,” he said.
