“N2 million ‘enjoyment allowance’ for senators not a big deal, too small even” – Stephanie Coker’s husband, Olumide Aderinokun

The N2 million ‘enjoyment allowance’ given to Nigerian senators has drawn attention, with businessman and politician Olumide Aderinokun, who also happens to be the husband of media personality Stephanie Coker, expressing his opinion that the sum isn’t as significant as it’s being portrayed.

Aderinokun, who is married to media personality Stephanie Coker, took to Twitter on Tuesday, August 15, to share his perspective on the matter, suggesting that the sum is relatively small for senators.

“The 2 million Naira given to senators isn’t a big deal. It is even too small for a senator. What can a family man do with 2 million Naira ($2,000)? Why are we making it a big deal? But they shouldn’t have made it public. Making it public is a bit insensitive to the plight of Nigerians,” Aderinokun’s tweet read.

This statement follows the recent announcement by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, informing members of the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly that a token had been provided to them for the purpose of enjoying their holiday.

The announcement, captured on camera, ignited a flurry of reactions from Nigerians across the nation, many of whom criticized the move as out of touch with the prevailing economic challenges faced by the general population.
